Greater Whitsunday Region – Queensland State Government Deputation – October 2017

The Whitsunday Region, represented by the Mayors and CEO’s of each of Isaac, Whitsunday, and Mackay Regional Councils, undertook a Deputation to Brisbane on 12th October 2017 advocating the Greater Whitsunday region’s priorities to Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, and Minister Kate Jones.

Top of the agenda was better road infrastructure to support the national building region including funding to deliver flood immunity for the Bruce Highway north and south of Proserpine and to improve the Alpha-Clermont Road which is essential to the development of the Galilee Basin.

Also, ensuring that the Queensland Government keeps their foot on the accelerator for the construction of the Mackay to Bowen Basin Service Link (Walkerston By-pass).

Other key priorities included the Reef 2050 Plan to ensure the Reef is preserved now and for generations to come, better telecommunications to improve disaster management, affordable water security and economic sustainability.
